The Telecom Engineer will deliver effective telecommunications support across operational assets, ensuring all systems remain compliant, reliable, and safe. Acting as a key link between offshore teams and the onshore IT function, the role supports both day‑to‑day operations and longer‑term improvements to communications infrastructure.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Providing technical expertise for telecoms systems, supporting offshore teams and investigating equipment failures.
- Preparing technical assessments, scopes of work, and deliver Level 1 telecoms modifications, acting as the Job Responsible Engineer for associated vendor activities.
- Serving as the key interface to onshore IT, supporting network workscopes, hardware refreshes, and creation of work orders/permits.
- Executing telecoms preventive maintenance plans and ensure all work meets regulatory standards, internal requirements, and industry best practice.
- Supporting management of safety‑critical risks within the discipline, conducting risk assessments and maintaining awareness of asset barrier integrity.
- Promoting cyber security awareness offshore, ensuring rapid escalation and response to potential threats.
- Contributing to MoC reviews and other technical assurance processes through specification development, review of deliverables, and documentation support.
- Providing input to long‑term telecoms strategy, undertaking feasibility reviews and recommending improvements.
- Managing vendor relationships, support contract oversight, and coordinate licence renewals.
- Mentoring offshore telecoms technicians and support quality assurance, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.
- Undertaking offshore visits to support operations, witness work execution, and provide technical backfill when needed.
