The Technology Advisor is responsible for supporting the preparation and execution of the organisation’s Technology Plan, ensuring the business meets its objectives against the Technology Roadmap. This role is based in Aberdeen City Centre where staff are required to attend the office every day.

The individual will focus on business improvement and plays a crucial role in delivering the company’s intentions of maximising value from technological improvements. They will also monitor and track project costs and benefits, demonstrating the value delivered to the business.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Acting as the gate keeper for the Technology Plan, effectively prioritising activities in line with business strategy.
- Supporting the co-ordination of the monthly technology meetings and ensuring that projects are managed effectively through the gated process.
- Assisting in the development of the Technology Strategy Roadmap and support the business to progress towards the identified goals.
- Building and maintaining relationships with the business to promote the Technology Plan and Roadmap and liaising with Asset and Function Teams as required.
- Cooperating with the business to ensure technology projects are progressed in a timely manner.
- Ensuring that all technology projects have a robust business case, providing ad-hoc support to prepare if required.
- Identifying and gaining relevant approvals in line with governance requirements prior to commencement of technology project activity.
- Driving the timely progression of technology projects utilising the continuous improvement methodology, gate processes and monthly meetings with EMT.
- Monitoring and tracking costs/benefits of technology projects on a consistent basis as well as relevant parameters.
- Demonstrating and communicating the value of completed technology projects at various levels of the business.
- Liaising with the Oil and Gas Technology Centre as the Company Representative where necessary.
- Firmly understand the threat of Cyber Attacks in IT and OT environments.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience of working within an oil and gas sector operator, service company or consultancy.
- Strong track record in monitoring projects at an individual and consolidated level.
- Knowledge of methodologies around detailed cost and benefit analysis.
- Exposure to structured project management processes.
- Experience in identifying areas of improvement as well as coordinating and delivering change, taking on additional responsibility when necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to organise, prioritise and plan to meet tight timelines.
- Strong IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Primavera and Power BI experience preferred.
- Collaborative and inspirational role model, demonstrating personal leadership which supports the business objectives.
- Strong influencing skills, with ability to influence at peer and senior management level within the business.
- Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline and/or considerable experience in a similar role/transferrable skill.
- The role may require travelling offshore for certain business requirements.
