Technical Manager
• Provide leadership, technical oversight, and authority in relation to testing and service – including but not limited to hydrostatic testing, pressure testing, gas testing, hyperbaric testing, PR2 qualifications, inclusive of a strong working knowledge of API Specification 6A.
• Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the Operations activities and technical work performed in the department, service, workshops or business.
• Oversee the creation all work instruction and deliverable documentation packages.
• Monitor delivery & comment on third party technical deliverables.
• Develop cost estimates for work packages for approval, obtaining third party input where necessary.
• Compile and issue customer quotations in accordance with financial guidelines.
• Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
• Lead/delegate the key proposals/tender execution.
• Ensure customer requirements and performance expectations are delivered.
• To function as focal point for planning and co-ordination activities and technical delivery of contracted scopes of work (Method statements, procurement, quotations, project management, cost control, workshop, and equipment maintenance etc.)
• Develop direct report staff, their roles and competency.
• Oversee all projects and services delivering performance goals in a professional manner.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of legal and regulatory requirements for BU activity, provide safety information and recommend compliance procedural reviews and updates.
• Notify clients of defects or problems found during technical work and identify options for correcting as required.
• Attend project meetings, attend Company/Client meetings, and liaise with as required.
• Develop, review and approve work packs, method statements, risk assessments.
In addition, you will perform any other duties that reasonably and naturally fall within your role and which the Company deems you to be competent to undertake.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the lifting inspection / wire rope integrity industry
• Knowledge of relevant legislation
• Background in resource management
• Project Management experience
• Knowledge of contracts, commercial and finance processes
• Appreciation and experience of relevant regulations, i.e., Health & Safety at Work Act
• Strong employee management skills
• Strong certification database management skills (Uploading, data extraction etc.)
• Planning experience with a view of extracting inspection due dates to create future schedules for inspection team.
• Organised individual able to establish effective systems to manage operational information.
• Good time-management skills - can multi-task and time conscious to ensure jobs are completed in a timely manner.
• Experienced in creating a professional image, be detail conscious and work with a high degree of independence and initiative, willing to take on new responsibilities and challenges.
• Ability to track and have a strong cost awareness background.
• Good working knowledge of ICT, MS office and data management systems.
Qualifications:
Essential:
• Degree qualified, HNC-HND, or relevant experience.
Desirable:
• Member of accredited engineering body
• City and Guilds, ONC, HNC in testing or engineering discipline or equivalent courses
Travel within UK and overseas as required to meet the Customers requirements. Valid passport/driving license required.
