Role Summary
Trojan Energy is currently recruiting for a Legal & Contracts Advisor to join our team in the UK.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Legal & Contracts Advisor will be responsible for reviewing contractual documentation, providing relevant legal advice and insight to the business, and supporting the business with the development of policies and processes that align with Trojan Energy’s mission. The successful candidate will take a proactive approach to the role, with a focus on continuous improvement. A hybrid working model will likely be on offer and the successful candidate may be required to travel within the UK as required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing, negotiating and effectively managing contracts with Trojan Energy’s clients, highlighting any major commercial or contractual risks or issues to the relevant team and work with them to optimum solution.
- Reviewing and advising on terms of consumer engagement.
- Drafting legal and contractual documents (such as non-disclosure agreements, partnership agreements and joint-bidding agreements).
- Supporting the continuous improvement of Trojan Energy’s legal and contracting policies and strategies.
- Providing timely relevant legal advice when required by the business.
- Responsibility for the Trojan Energy’s compliance environment including development of policies and procedures.
- Placing appropriate contracts with sub-contractors.
- Supporting the Supply Chain function with the placement of contracts with Trojan Energy’s suppliers.
- Seeking to create best value for Trojan Energy in respect of client and supplier engagement, including the placement of long-term framework agreements with key suppliers.
- Maintaining the Trojan Energy contract lifecycle management platform.
- Liaising with the commercial function to develop and maintain a ‘best approach’ contracting model in response to public procurement opportunities with local authorities in the UK.
- Ensuring to stay up-to-date with relevant legislative changes that may affect the Company.
- Delivering legal and contractual awareness training to internal stakeholders as appropriate.
- Instructing and liaising with external counsel as necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in an in-house legal/contracts role.
- Adept at explaining key contractual principles to internal stakeholders.
- Track-record of successful contractual negotiation.
- A proactive approach to the role and ability to demonstrate added value is essential.
- Positive approach to managing workload and several projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- The ability to build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Capable of building and maintaining credibility with Senior Leaders.
- Exposure to contracting with public bodies and working knowledge of consumer legislation matters are desirable.
- Experience of working independently in a start-up or scale-up environment would be advantageous.
