Sales Executive – Global Energy Data Provider (WS/3574)

Job Overview:     A leading global service and geoscience data provider to the energy industry seeks a Sales Executive to support their ongoing growth plans. You will identify and develop relationships with key stakeholders across Europe and help to generate and drive the Company’s business opportunities.  Applicants invited with a hunger to drive sales, highly pro-active, excellent communication skills and have an ambition to pursue a commercial career. This is purely a commercial role, and the Company is open to all levels of experience and industry backgrounds – ambition and drive are the key! Previous experience in any geophysical or/and geological sales highly desired.    Full training on all aspects of the role and support will be provided. This is a highly driven sales role, where you will be active on the phone and visiting clients and potential clients, promoting the Company’s multi-client data library.  The role is based in the UK and preferably in the South East. Opportunity to travel.

The Company acquires large amounts of data from geophysical and geological projects that they operate on behalf of oil and gas clients worldwide. This data then allows clients explore for and produce oil and gas. These global data libraries consist of seismic, potential fields, multi-beam, coring and well data. Each project is operated on behalf of multiple clients – hence the expression “multi-client” (MC).  
 
In addition to acquiring the data, their exploration geoscience experts add in-depth value through processing and interpretation using leading edge technologies.  Working for some of the largest energy companies in the world, they provide access to this data via a web portal with instant viewing and GIS capabilities.

In this role, you are not expected to know the technical aspects of the data, they have experts for this, but you will be trained in understanding the basics of how the data is used and the value of the data in the overall exploration and production of the oil and gas life cycle.

Responsibilities:    Reporting to the EVP of Global New Business Development your primary responsibilities will be to:
•    Become knowledgeable in the Company’s data and services.
•    Build good working relationships with your peers across the wider company global organization.
•    Become knowledgeable of the Company’s data libraries – what is available, where, the value added that has been applied to the data...  Full training provided.
•    Keep up to date with industry Exploration Licensing Rounds across Europe – e.g., who is applying for exploration license and what type, who has been awarded – this will help identify potential new clients.  Record this information and make it accessible to company personnel.
•    Become knowledgeable in the commercial aspects of the business - who are the clients and potential? there need for data? What is the sales cycle? Who is involved?
•    Identify a list of stakeholders in oil and gas companies (all sizes) – agree a strategy and implement. In the first instance this will be phone calls, followed up by emails.
•    Generate interest and then arrange/co-ordinate follow up meetings with Company Business Development personnel and stakeholders involved.
•    Attend these meetings and undertake follow-up actions.  
•    Manage the process ensuring all stakeholders are updated as required (both internally and externally).  
•    Be highly pro-active in developing your understanding of the sector – attend events and conferences as required.
•    Work closely with your peers in building your knowledge base.
•    Identify and build your contacts and relationships with key people involved in exploration.
•    Initial focus will be Europe, but you may be required to support US and Asia growth objectives.  
•    Reporting and forecasting - On a regular basis, provide details of your activities, potential interest and revenue forecasts etc.
•    Be proactive in raising the awareness and reputation of the Company’s solution.

This is an exciting role for an individual with a passion for sales. No previous experience required but strong networking and lead generation abilities are key!  Candidates with experience selling geophysical or/and geological products, data or services highly desired.

Preferences:     The successful candidate will have:
•    An academic background in a geoscience discipline (geology, geophysics) desired but not essential.
•    Previous experience in selling data, products or services desired but not essential.
•    Ambition, passion and a desire to pursue a highly successful commercial roles essential.
•    Previous experience in any geophysical or/and geological sales highly desired.  
•    Understanding of the oil and gas UK exploration licensing rounds desired – training provided.
•    Tele-sales experience highly desired – you will be engaged initially via phone, identifying key players, generating interest, co-ordinating meetings.   
•    Highly pro-active essential – following training, can work independently, driving sales interest.
•    Technically competent – can demonstrate via the web site potential data of interest to a prospective client. Full training provided.
•    Ability to monitor, manage and communicate potential leads to relevant managers in a timely manner essential.  
•    Can work effectively with Company personnel globally.
•    An assertive individual with the personality and confidence to build strong relationships and engage with senior level personnel in oil companies.  
•    Excellent communication skills – must have the confidence to engage at all levels.
•    Entrepreneurial approach – can leverage strengths and react and lead in dynamic market conditions.
•    Highly methodical - ability to multi-task, prioritise, with attention to detail but constantly paying attention to growth targets.  
•    Ability to perform under pressure and to deliver results.
•    Ambitious with a keen drive to exceed expectations and develop one’s career.
•    Can travel as required.

Package:    Dependent on the level of experience, a Base Salary of £40K - £70K plus a Bonus Scheme is on offer.  There is flexibility on Base Salary for high calibre candidates with an oil and gas multi-client background.
