ROV Pilot Technician

 Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the safety of themselves and others around them.
  • Observe safe working practices and adhere to electrical principles and industry standards.
  • Have an active role in the completion of task risk assessments and toolbox talks.
  • Adhere to all ROVOP policies and procedures.
  • Assist ROV Supervisor to problem solve and conduct project in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for the completion of all pre and post dive checks.
  • Undertake launch and recovery operations under direction of shift supervisor.
  • Conduct fault finding under direction of senior crew members.
  • Responsible for ensuring constant communication with nominated deck personnel during launch and recovery procedures.
  • Understands and ensures the full scope of work is undertaken.
  • Identifies all navigational aids and ensures they are fully operational.
  • Responsible for ensuring all preventative and general maintenance is carried out.
  • Fully understands the ROV operational and systems manuals.
  • Has a good overall knowledge of the ROV, handling system and all sub systems.
  • Mentor ROV trainees as required.
  • Maintain system inventory.
  • Be aware of weather conditions and operational parameters for safe ROV operations.
  • Pilot ROV as directed by shift supervisor.
  • Perform navigator and log keeping duties.
  • Complete and submit written technical reports at the end of each offshore cycle relating to all aspects of the project and technical repairs carried out.
  • Undertake training requirements, to obtain competent senior ROV Pilot Technician status.
  • Strive to learn new technical and operational issues while on the job.
  • Knowledge of 3rd party tooling and sensors and able to integrate and fault find accordingly.
  • Be aware of the company's IMS system and be able to navigate effectively.

HSEQ RESPONSIBILITIES

All employees have a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and abide by the Environmental Protection processes in place at ROVOP to:

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do, or not do.
  • Co-operate with your employer on health and safety matters.
  • Correctly use work items provided by your employer, including PPE in accordance with training and instructions.
  • Not to interfere with, or misuse anything provided for your health and safety, or welfare.
  • Report all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality concerns to the HSEQ Manager.
  • Work to the processes and procedures as set out in the IMS and inform the HSEQ Manager of any omissions or changes required.
  • Ensure that safety policies and procedures are implemented, understood and adhered to at the offshore work location, so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Promote a proactive commitment to ROVOP’s HSEQ initiatives.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Experience

  • Background electrical, mechanical or hydraulic systems. 
  • Experience with pneumatics, plant maintenance or electrical/mechanical engineering is a benefit.
  • At least 180 days offshore experience as ROV Pilot Technician Grade II.
  • At least 150 hours piloting.

Academic Education & Qualifications

  • BOSIET, MIST & Medical.
  • IMCA Members Competence Certification for job role
  • Formal Trade Qualification.
  • HV Certification 
  • Working at Height (Practical) Level 1

 

Technical Qualifications

  • PC Literate with proven experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages including, Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Background in electronics or hydraulics.

  • Ability to time manage and prioritise responsibilities and work to challenging deadlines.
  • Strong team player but also able to work effectively unsupervised when required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Personable, able to engage support and co-operation at all levels.

QUALIFICATION CLAUSE

The listing of key accountabilities and other duties is not necessarily exhaustive and may be changed at Management’s discretion to reflect the needs of the Company.  All personnel will be expected to assist others in their routine tasks as directed, in order to ensure that operational efficiency is maximised.
