PROJECT DESIGN ENGINEER

We are seeking a skilled and detail-orientated Project Design Engineer with expertise in structural engineering to support the successful execution of modular projects within our organisation. The Project Design Engineer will be responsible for a dual role creating safe and efficient structural designs through the use of 3D modelling, performing FEA analysis, fabrication drawing packs, bill of materials and coordinating projects with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, a deep understanding of structural design principles, and a commitment to delivering high-quality projects within a fast-paced modern environment.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Structural Design: Develop safe, innovative, and cost-effective structural designs for various fabrication projects, including containerised and skid-based solutions in accordance with DNV 2.7-1 / ISO 10855-1.

2. Structural Analysis: Perform comprehensive structural analysis using Autodesk Nastran and hand calculations to verify the integrity and stability of designs.

3. Drawings: Production and engineering drawings including DNV / third party approval drawings, profile and folding component detail, sub assembly weldment drawings, main assembly detail and any marking / data plate detail drawings.

4. Project Engineering: Collaborate with the project team, engineers and management to support the planning and execution of modular projects. The candidate shall be client facing with a good commercial understanding preferred.

5. Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including schedules, bill of materials, action trackers, meeting minutes, drawings, specifications, material certification and traceability registers.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with architectural, electrical, subcontractors and other engineering disciplines to integrate structural designs into overall project plans.

7. Quality Control: Review and approve design drawings, specifications, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with project deliverables.

8. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and design optimisation to enhance project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

9. Construction Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase to address structural design-related issues and ensure successful implementation.

10. Training and Development: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements, seeking continuous improvement in technical skills and knowledge.

 

 

Qualifications:

1.Education: Diploma or associate degree in Mechanical / Structural Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a benefit.

2.Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in structural design, CAD and project support or a similar role.

3.Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural and mechanical installations and interpretation of project design specifications.

4.Knowledge: Familiarity with structural and mechanical codes, regulations and industry standards.

5.Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety protocols.

6.Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.

7.Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and project execution.

8.Adaptability: Ability to work in diverse environments and adapt to changing project requirements.

9.Team Player: A collaborative mindset, able to work effectively as part of a project team.

10.Time Management: Strong organisational and time management skills to meet project deadlines and milestones.
