Environment Specialists – NOPSEMA

The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia’s independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.

NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

NOPSEMA is seeking experienced Environment Specialists across a range of disciplines to join our growing team of professionals in Perth and Melbourne within the Regulatory Operations and Strategic Regulation and Improvement Divisions to fill current and future vacancies.

You will make a real difference by helping to ensure that environmental impacts and risks from activities are effectively managed.

These roles will:

• support and lead reviews of environmental assessment and management proposals for offshore petroleum, greenhouse gas (CCS) and offshore renewable projects and activities;

• inspect business premises and offshore locations to monitor the implementation of important environmental management controls and take action where compliance issues are identified;

• share knowledge and work collaboratively with other Specialists to address regulatory and compliance issues; and

• support the effective regulation of the offshore energy sector, engage with industry and stakeholders where required.

Specific expertise and experience in assessing the effects of underwater noise on marine fauna or quantification and assessment of greenhouse gas emissions will be looked upon favourably.

Successful candidates will be required to complete the Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), undergo pre-employment medical assessment and maintain medical fitness.
