About the role

We are recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Hydraulic Technician to join our workshop on a permanent staff basis. This role will be predominantly workshop based but may also involve working on-site either onshore, offshore or internationally. The role will work within both the newbuild projects and rentals departments and will report directly to the Lead Technician. The position offers a variety of work, including: assembling newbuild equipment, mobilising and demobilising rental equipment, spooling hydraulic hose, carrying out maintenance on equipment previously manufactured by Brimmond.

Level 1: £25,000 - £32,000 p/a (£12.00 - £15.50 p/h)

Level 2: £34,000 - £39,000 p/a (£16.00 - £19.00 p/h)

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Taking responsibility for the workshop phase of the build, assembly, and testing of new equipment.
  • Assembly and testing of hydraulic power units, reelers, control panels and associated equipment which may be diesel, electrical or pneumatically driven.
  • Mobilising and demobilising a range of hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
  • Pressure testing a variety of equipment including hydraulic umbilical’s, hydraulic hoses, and filter banks.
  • Spooling hydraulic umbilical.
  • Refurbishing and maintaining hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
  • Fault finding and diagnosis of hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
  • Ensuring your workspace is kept safe, clean, and tidy.
  • Mentoring and developing more junior team members.
  • You may be required to work overtime at short notice.
  • Embracing company QHSE objectives and playing an active part in maintaining and improving workshop procedures, processes, and safety.
  • Ensuring workshop job packs are completed accurately and to a high standard.
  • Using your own initiative, and to be able to work individually or as part of a team.
  • Ensuring that company policies are followed and deadlines achieved.

Essential

  • Driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic with a genuine passion for the job.
  • Take pride in your work and have a fine attention to detail.
  • Time served in a mechanical, hydraulic or other suitable engineering discipline.
  • Experience of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • For those applying for Level 1 Technician Roles: Time served within a mechanical / hydraulic apprenticeship.
  • For those applying for Level 2 Technician Roles: 3-5 years experience within a hydraulic technician / hydraulic service technician role.
  • Competent in:
  • Assembling / fitting hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Operating, maintaining, refurbishing a range of hydraulic equipment
  • Servicing of hydraulic equipment
  • Reading and understanding general assembly drawings.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage own workload effectively and to meet deadlines as is necessary.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external contacts in a professional manner
  • Works effectively within a team or other work group as appropriate.

Preferred

  • HNC or HND qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Ability to understand hydraulic schematics
  • Experience of hydrostatic pressure testing
  • The ability to compile accurate and coherent service reports
  • Level 1 or 2 hydraulics training

Interview Process

Candidates who are successful with our phone interview will then be invited to a one hour in-person interview, at our facility in Kintore. The interview will be approximately 60-90 minutes and will consist of:
