Overview:
The Coating Technician is responsible for working in accordance with the correct Coating Procedure Specification, they are also responsible for working in accordance with standard PIH procedures and in a safe manner.
To operate proprietary field joint coating equipment both on and offshore, under the guidance of a Project Manager, in line with the clients project requirements.
Skills and requirements:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Promotion of Safety awareness and establish safe work practices
Follow all project safe work practices and identify, report any unsafe working condition wherever noted
Ensure all equipment including PPE is maintained in good working order and removal of defective equipment. Be diligent in managing personal behavior in compliance with HSQE requirements
Ensure that all necessary equipment, spares consumables (with appropriate MSDS sheets), tools etc are stored in PIH storage containers. Ensure that all equipment required to carry out coating operations is in good working order.
Be knowledgeable in the use of coating equipment and hand tools associated with the task.
To work under the instructions of the PIH Project Manager / Client
Work at all times within the parameters of the approved project planning. Maintain effective communications with relevant parties at all times. Be aware of all hazards associated with the movement of pipes, task area machinery and coating equipment
Maintain a safe and clean working area.
Be totally familiar with the safe operation of the ready light and warning system for pipe pulling operations.
At all times during pipe pulling be aware of the possibility of an emergency stop situation.
Provide documentation and attend appointments when requested to facilitate visas, travel, medicals etc
Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and/or local legislation. Be willing to be trained in coating equipment and operations and have an understanding of the characteristics of production line operations. To learn and understand the safe operation of project related equipment such as line-up station, powered and lifting rollers.
Be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the process to be followed in the event of an incident / injury.
Focus on hazard identification and housekeeping.
Education and training :
Mechanical experience preferred
Attendance at Client induction and other familiarisation prior to mobilisation.
Remuneration:
£137.28 per day plus rolled up HP@ 12.07%Company Pension
