Our work has never been more timely or relevant and is varied, interesting and impactful. We’re bold, collaborative, inclusive and committed to learning as we build a culture where everyone can thrive, and these values are woven into everything we do.
Your work with us
Join us in this important role and you’ll be a key member of our Environmental
Management Team, which is responsible for the environmental assessment and approval of offshore energy projects across three regional areas of the UK

Working to ensure the regulation of offshore energy projects takes full account of environmental and social objectives, and projects do not have a significant adverse on the environment or other uses of the sea, you’ll be responsible for reviewing impact assessments and determining the relevant applications.
You’ll have a range of additional responsibilities, including providing support on the development of policy regarding emerging environmental issues, and advising operators on legislative and procedural matters. We’ll also expect you to liaise with statutory consultees and other environmental bodies, and manage environmental projects and research activities funded by the Department.
Who we’re looking for
With extensive experience of offshore oil and gas, gas unloading and storage, and carbon capture and storage, you’ll have good knowledge of the marine environment, environmental impact assessment, environmental legislation and the management of related issues. With an honours degree or its equivalent, you should also have a post-graduate qualification in Climate and Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Pollution, Marine Resource Development and Protection, Biology, Bioscience, Marine Biology, Microbiology or Zoology.
A superb communicator, influencer and team player, and ready to manage and
coordinate workloads, conflicting demands and priorities, you’ll be comfortable
working in a high-profile, fast-paced environment. We’ll also expect you to be
committed to managing a service of the highest quality, and embrace our culture of equality, diversity and inclusion.
The benefits you’ll receive
We offer great working benefits including a world-class pension, flexible working options and a career where your learning and development is taken seriously. We’re fortunate to have a range of excellent staff networks, support talented people from all backgrounds to build a career and thrive, and are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader employer.
