Coating Engineer

Role specific responsibilities
- Responsible for technical ownership of the CRCE coating scope of work, including but not limited to document creation, contractual supplier document register ownership to achieve key target submittal dates, internal and external client interface for testing scopes (PQT and PPT and associated 3rd party lab's) and challenges. Preparation of project technical and quality documentation and reports.
- Ensure that required documentation for field joint coating activities are finalised to client satisfaction, on time, and to monitor the execution.
- Collect, implement, and extend know-how and experience for the purpose of improving customer service
- Provide timely specialist field joint coating support for all phases of a project technical liaison and communications with subcontractor / vendor. Fulfil the technical requirements for field joint coating and production activities for pipeline installation in a cost-efficient, effective, and safe manner.
- Instruct onshore personnel and subcontractors in accordance with agreed plans, for example during PQT.
- Client interaction on technical and quality issues. Technical representation of PIH at Client's Project Meetings.
- Liaising with other departments and site providing technical / quality support.
- Review of Client and 3rd party scope of work including suppliers and specifications.
- Support to sales team for specification reviews, lab testing scopes etc..
- Technical support for the planning and execution of Procedure Qualification Trials (PQT’s) in conjunction with the relevant service delivery departments, with responsibility for documentation technical / quality items and client liaison.
- Tracking execution of 3rd party lab testing.
Education Required:
- NACE1 essential & NACE2 desirable.
- Science based academic qualifications to A-Level or B Tech standard.
- Bachelor’s degree Nautical / Civil / Mechanical Engineering.
- Good practical and theoretical knowledge of pipeline installation techniques.
- Good practical knowledge of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Systems.
Work Experience Required:
- Good understanding of ISO standards related to FJC
- Good understanding of the related inspections and testing methods
- A good knowledge of FJC and application techniques
- Experience with working under contractors as a potential sub-contractor mindset with initiative
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
- Experience of Engineering, Quality, Health & Safety and Environment process and systems.
- Experience in an engineering / materials-based background.
- Change management experience with regards to process and procedure.
- Experience working with standard operating procedural documentation, ensuring it is in place, being followed and reviewed / updated accordingly
