Apprentice Pipefitter - Aberdeen Facility

We're hiring a new pipefitter apprentice at our Aberdeen facility!

GS-Hydro is a worldwide group celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. While our work mostly covers hydraulic systems, we work with a wide variety of materials and sizes depending on each project's requirements. In time, the work will cover the UK working / aboard working and offshore working.

Due to increased business, GS-Hydro UK Ltd is actively seeking new candidates to perform mechanical manufacturing engineering operations through hands-on, in-house training and further engineering development via college to obtain the respective SVQ qualifications.

Responsibilities

The duties included within this role, but not limited to, are as below:
· You will have the opportunity to learn how to fabricate pipe spools using manual or hydraulically operated equipment and understand the safety protocols associated with it.
· Assist with the building of units/installation of correct piping techniques and different connection types available.
· In time, be able to read, understand and produce technical drawings & piping schematics
· Be trained in the operation, maintenance and inspection of our workshop / offshore machine fleet
· Learn about flushing and pressure testing of pipework/hoses within the workshop.
· Be provided with training on the different fittings, flanges and connection types available.
· The position will, in time, include working on-site either in the UK, abroad or offshore, depending upon the requirements.
· Weekend working is required at times, both in the workshop and onsite.
· Have good communication skills and a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements through industry.
· A full UK driving licence is advantageous.
· Forklift truck training will be made available
· Be reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
· Comfortable working outside in all elements of weather when required.
· Have a professional attitude.

What you will experience?

You will develop the knowledge needed to use technological principles to solve engineering problems and generate innovative solutions to piping/fluid transfer issues.

Working both locally within the Aberdeen facility and in time, out in the field covering a combination of land-based engineering projects and off-shore work scopes, as an individual or as part of a team.

You will also develop essential core skills in communication, numeracy, IT, problem-solving, and teamwork.
