Currently seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer (ROV Analysis / Design) on a permanent staff basis for a global subsea leader based in Aberdeen.
Working within the ROV Operations department, the Senior Structural Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Performing structural checks of ROV equipment, following industry codes and standards.
- Designing (structural elements) of ROV equipment.
- Specifying load test requirements for ROV equipment.
- Supervising third party structural designs of ROV equipment.
- Producing structural engineering deliverables: design reports, calculations templates, scopes of work.
- Supervising draughting (structural elements) of ROV equipment.
- Providing advice for interfaces with Classification Societies.
- Supporting estimating of structural engineering activities.
- Advising / mentoring engineers.
- Supporting on-site activities, when required.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A Masterโs (MEng) degree in Structural Engineering, or similar, is essential.
- Chartered Engineer status would be preferred.
- Proven experience in structural engineering analysis and design is essential.
- Previous structural engineering experience in the subsea sector is essential.
- Structural engineering experience with ROV equipment would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of industry codes (e.g. AISC, Eurocode for steel design) is essential.
- Applicants should be familiar with processes for fabrication and non-destructive examination.
- Applicants should have experience in the design / specification of lifting equipment.
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis (beam element and 3D simulation) is essential.
- Experience in using calculation tools (e.g. Mathcad) is essential.
- CAD (2D and 3D) experience is essential.
- ANSYS or STAAD.Pro experience would be desirable.
