Accountant
Superior Recruitment Group have a fantastic opportunity for an Accountant to join their client in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Our client requires an experienced and professional Accountant, to manage and oversee general accounting functions for our industrial services contracting business in the oil and gas sector, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with UAE regulations. Responsibilities include coordinating annual audits, preparing management reports, performing account reconciliations, and managing cash flow. The position involves supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial analysis of projects and operations while maintaining financial stability and regulatory compliance in the UAE oil and gas contracting environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Core Accounting Functions
• Overall accounting supervision and monthly closing of accounts
• General ledger review and cost centre analysis
• Cash closing and verification of vouchers
• Verification of fixed assets accounting and preparing fixed assets schedules and related reports
• Review of general ledger accounts to ensure that receipts and expenditures are correctly accounted for
Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Preparation of financial reports for banks, tendering departments, management, and oil & gas clients as required
• External and internal audit coordination, including responding to audit queries and implementing recommendations
• Ensuring compliance with UAE fiscal regulations, particularly those specific to the oil and gas industry
• Maintenance of internal accounts according to UAE and international accounting standards
Project & Contract Accounting
• Verification of accounting for journal vouchers with reference to purchase orders, service orders, and contracts/agreements specific to industrial services projects
• Monitoring of project expenditure against project budgets for oil and gas service contracts
• Contract revenue recognition for long-term industrial projects
• Verification of subcontractor payments and maintenance of their accounts
• Budget variance analysis in coordination with respective project teams
Cash Flow & Budget Management
• Preparation of actual/forecasted cash flow statements for all company operations
• Assisting in the preparation of departmental and project budgets
• Equipment cost tracking and allocation for industrial service operations
• Reconciliation of the inventory ledger for industrial materials and supplies
Payroll & Administration
• Overseeing payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee wages, benefits, and deductions
• Ensuring payroll complies with UAE labour laws, tax regulations, and company policies
• Handling multi-currency transactions related to international vendors and clients
• Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• Good understanding of International Accounting & Auditing Standards, with specific knowledge of application in oil and gas service contracting
• Advanced Excel skills for financial modelling and reporting without specialized software
• Graduate or Postgraduate in Accounts & Finance
• Minimum 8 years' experience in similar capacity, with at least 3 years in industrial services or oil and gas sector
• Experience with project accounting and contract revenue recognition for industrial services
• Knowledge of UAE VAT and fiscal regulations specific to oil and gas industry
• Experience handling multi-currency operations and international vendor payments
• Understanding of mobilization/demobilization accounting for industrial equipment
• Ability to implement and maintain manual accounting systems with high accuracy
• Experience working with project managers to track costs against budgets
• Certification from recognized professional bodies specializing in Financial & Management Reporting (Desirable)
